Drink Coffee…Do Good

At Awestruck Church we are beginning to purchase all the coffee we serve from THIS SITE.  Often we talk about making the most of every dollar we spend to make an impact on the world, but frivilously purchase certain items for our weekly service.  Why purchasing this coffee is a big deal:

“Purchasing Land of a Thousand Hills coffee blesses a nation of rural Rwandans. No longer exploited, Specialty Coffee provides a fair and proper Living Wage to Rwandan Farmers that have embraced the gift God has given them. Their commitment to excellence and your love of coffee helps fund micro lending projects, creates opportunities for Hutu and Tutsi to work together that restores dignity, and builds safe places that promote reconciliation.”  (from site)

Rwandan Coffee is available for individual purchase…so go Check it out!

What small changes could you make to have more impact on your world?

Sunday=Fun Day

Yesterday was a busy day for me and the family.  I was honored that the boys from Layden showed up to help me lead worship at PGBC.  Those guys are truly amazing!  You should get their new CD.  The Awestruck crew represented in full force.  (Minus the one who was at the beach)  I got to speak at a graduation banquet for some of my former students.  I had them when they were in Middle School and they asked me to be their speaker.  I was touched, but it also made me feel old to see all these young adults that we remembered as awkward, geeky kids.  Almost as old as we felt when we were asked to be part one of our former students weddings!  My good friend and partner in Awestruck, Evan, played an acoustic gig at Monkeez Brew in Thomasville.  If you are in T’ville you definitely need to check this place out!  Me and Micah had a blast putting puzzles together and drinking our coffee.  Yep, Micah likes a little coffee with his milk.  (Decaf of course)  We sat and chatted with Heather and Steggy while Evan serenaded us in the back ground.  It was the kind of day that made me fall more in love with the people God has placed in my life to start our new church.  I am so blessed and blown away at what He is doing right now.  We have the perfect team in place for His perfect timing to be part of His perfect will.  I am humbled to be part of Awestruck!

To get the answer, you must first ask the question!

I was hanging out with a friend of mine this morning that I love spending time with.  He always challenges me by asking the right questions.  Some things I would never think of on my own.  It is always good to be stretched and forced to get outside your comfort zone.  I think that when we get too comfortable with any aspect of our life we are in danger of stagnation.  When we begin to think we have it all together then we are in a scary place.  We are walking the fine line between mediocrity and a dynamic life.  The choice is ours to accomplish all the things God has called us to, or simply exist in our world.  You have to ask the right questions before you can have the right answers.  It is good to have people in my life that aren’t afraid to challenge me on the hard issues.

Where do I fit?

Cool Expresso MachineTonight was an incredible meeting with our launch team!  We began the process of discovering where everyone fits into this journey.  I got so pumped as each person shared their passions, desires, strengths and talents!  The puzzle is actually coming together in ways I would have never imagined.  Each person brings something completely different and useful to Awestruck.  I am so thankful for each person on our team.  I went down to evaluate two locations for our coffee shop today.  We mentally sketched out the layout and design of each place.  We have two excellent choices to decide on.  I love it when God intervenes and takes you from having nothing to having to make a choice.  There is nothing more exciting than dreaming and planning for the vision God has placed in your heart.  I am discovering everyday that we are right smack dab in the middle of God’s will, and He is doing some amazing things!
